WHY POSEIDON ADVENTURE?
The Algarve boasts one of Europe's most beautiful coastlines - perfect for coasteering - explore it with us from a unique perspective.
We operate to the highest standards, we are fully insured and our experienced guides always put your safety first.
We provide pick-ups between Sagres and Lagos, as well as free photographs to remember your coasteering adventure for years to come.
- I've never tried coasteering before - can I still go?
Yes, definitely! Most people who join our tours are trying coasteering for the very first time.
- What equipment do I need for coasteering?
Before your adventure, we will kit you out with safety equipment including a helmet, a buoyancy aid, a wetsuit and protective gloves to help you when rock climbing. All that you will need to bring is a towel and a pair of shoes that you don't mind getting wet.
- Who is coasteering for?
Coasteering is a sport for everyone! Our sessions are designed to make coasteering available for anyone in good health regardless of ability or experience. It's a great sport for individuals, groups and families big & small! We will always tailor our coasteering sessions to the ability of the group. If there are jumps or climbs that you don't feel up to, we always provide an easy and fun alternative. Likewise we make our coasteering sessions more accessible for smaller children so they get the extra attention they need.
For information on group coasteering sessions and discounts, please see our Groups page.
- Do I need to be a certain age to go coasteering?
All participants must be over 8 years old.
- Is Coasteering safe?
All of our guides are experienced in the ocean, whether coasteering, surfing or paddling. We have a comprehensive knowledge of all of our activity sites and every aspect of our operation has been extensively risk assessed. We are qualified first aiders and are fully insured for our activity. We pride ourselves on our safety procedures.
- Do I need to know how to swim?
Although swimming is a key component of coasteering, you don't have to be an experienced swimmer for this activity. Our wetsuits and buoyancy aids will keep you afloat when you're in the water and our guides are extremely patient with non-swimmers and always on hand to show you exactly where to go and what to do - just let us know if you're a weak swimmer upon booking so we can tailor the session appropriately. We also carry a range of swimming aids to ensure that you're always in safe hands.
- How big are the jumps?
All of our coasteering tours begin with small jumps so that you can get a feel for the technique and feeling of cliff jumping. Jumps get progressively bigger, but there are always easier, smaller jumps to choose from. Our biggest jumps are around 10 meters but these aren't always for everyone and there is never any pressure on you to jump fro, a height that makes you feel uncomfortable.
- Do I have to do all of the jumps?
Cliff jumping isn't for everyone, but that's no problem - there's a lot more to coasteering than jumping. We encourage everyone to try the smaller jumps, but if it's not for you, you're free to enjoy the other elements of coasteering like climbing, exploring caves and swimming free in the ocean.
- How much does it cost to go coasteering?
Our sessions are priced at 45 euros per person during low season (October - May) and 50 euros per person during high season (June - September). This includes pick up/drop off (between Sagres & Lagos), all safety equipment, photographs of your coasteering adventure and fully qualified and experienced guides.
- How long does coasteering last?
Our Coasteering sessions are 3 hours long (including full safety brief and introduction to the activity).
